Advent Calendar, Day Twenty Three

Part Three of 'Forever Winter'

The Alien ship hovered steadily above the Earth, with a blinding blue light shrieking down to freeze the planet. The Doctor looked out the window from a small storage compartment within the ship. "Right. Let's go find some aliens!", he proclaimed.
Caitlin and Keiran stormed through the street, facing the ice rocketing down from the heavens. They headed for Holcroft Dynamics, facing the ship above from cracking the ground they walked on. "Why didn't we drive again?", Keiran asked.
Caitlin sighed, "Cars frozen."
"Right." They looked behind them as a bright pulsing light, beamed down to their town, seemingly stopped by a large blue sheet plating over the city.
The Doctor opened the unusually small door of the storage room crouched under. He found himself along a series of battered old corridors, with sparks flying around. Batting loose wires from the ship out of his way, yelling could be heard in the distance, leading the Doctor to the aliens. He followed his ears around each corner until he found a door. Through the circular window, he bent his knees down to see within, and couldn't believe his eyes.
The pair were reaching the building, as Keiran's comms device began buzzing in his pocket. He took his hand out of it, with the device and switched it on. Mia spoke through, "Where are you guys? The Doctor said you were coming."
Caitlin reached over and breathed heavily into her hands, causing stacic on the other side, "We're coming! Open the door, we don't have access."
The Doctor peered through the glass as he watched a group of llama-like aliens work in a frosted room. Within the crowd, Samuel Holcroft walked among the animal aliens, looking down on them as they flicked switches with their feet. The Doctor held back his laughter, even though he knew they were plotting destruction. Inside, Holcroft stepped back from the row of controls, padded across the walls. "I hate this... body. Ridiculous piece of flesh and it's so cold in here." he complained, dragging a ring out of his finger. He immediately began to glow and shrink down back into one of his kind. His feet multiplied and his face stretched downwards. Fur faded all around his skin and a faint glow dissipated. "Right. That's better.", he said with a voice trembling within the llama mouth, "How long until we prepare for the final phase?"
One of the other aliens turned and replied, "Counting down now. Earth won't know what hit them. "
The door slid open, with Will pulling back his finger from the wall, "You're welcome", he said as the other two rushed in from the cold. They entered Sam's lab, with Caitlin struggling to pick something from her pocket. She spoke unnervingly, "Right. I have Amy's DNA, I extracted it from her finger while it wasn't infected. At least I hope not." Mia and Will lit up as they realized her plan.
"And NOW!", Sam ordered. The aliens all bashed the controls like they hated it. More and more pulses of energy was released from the ship and beside the Doctor, he looked down from a window to the Earth, seeing it get colder and colder by the second. As he looked back into the room, an alien diverted themselves to a separate panel in the control centre. He nudged another to see what the screen showed them. The Doctor stepped back for a moment, hearing a faint whirring. Loud enough that he noticed the sound came from behind. He quickly turned to see a camera hanging from the roof, turning to get a better shot of the Doctor's face. He laughed and wandered in as the door opened, with the aliens crowding around him. They all took out unusual tube-like weapons aiming up, looking from waist height. Holcroft watched from his place, unrecognisably, and said, "Doctor, right? I wonder how you got on board this ship. Must have something to do with the ship we found in Storage Unit.. "
The Doctor looked unimpressed, "Storage Unit 7, yes. I must say I am very impressed how you've managed to spring together all this technology with.. what? Hooves? I wonder."
"We're far more developed than you ever thought. And our appearance is not important, as I'm sure you can understand, seeing as though you've seen far more off worlders than we can imagine, is that right. Time Lord?"
The Doctor raised an eyebrow, and began to step forward, but the aliens around him powered their weapons and small lights bounced across his face. He halted, smacking his lips, "Yeah, two hearts, great. I can see you monitoring me."
"Either way, I think you've had your fun. Kill him." The aliens weapons all squeaked and loaded, then FLASH. Amy materialised in the room, looking as good as new.
"Ah, what took you so long?" The Doctor asked.

The fourth and final part will be tomorrow :D
